TargetX Launches Free Search Engine to Help Colleges and Students Find Each Other
Bristol, PA (PRWEB) September 28, 2007 -- Campus visits have become such an important part of the college search process that one higher education company has created a free service to help families find the admissions events they want to attend.
Interactive recruiting firm TargetX has launched MyCampusVisits.com (http://www.mycampusvisits.com), an easy-to-use search engine that helps students find open houses, receptions and other recruiting events based on such criteria as location, cost and size of the school.
"We know that students and their families are scheduling more campus visits than ever, and they rank those experiences as their most trusted source of information about a college," said TargetX CEO Brian Wm. Niles in announcing the website.
"So we thought it made sense to create a public service where students and colleges could come together online in the hopes that they eventually meet face-to-face on campus."
The site operates as a search engine that enables students and parents to find events by college name, date, religious affiliation and other key factors. When students find an event that interests them, they can link to more information on the college's website, click to see a full profile of the school, and fill out a form requesting more information from the college.
There is no charge to the schools or to the families for participating. Any information provided by the student goes only to the colleges identified so they can follow up directly.
A recent study of college-bound students identified the campus visit as the most trusted source of information, followed by college websites and personal recommendations.
That comes as no surprise to Jeff Kallay, TargetX's Experience Evangelist, who has advised more than 150 colleges on their campus visits.
"They're so important because today's students don't trust conventional advertising and marketing," he explains. "They've been raised on experiences and they want to experience the real thing when it comes to looking at schools.
"And multiple visits have become the norm. It's nothing for a family to schedule visits to three to five campuses at a time. So a tool that helps them figure out what's available, when and where, will be extremely valuable."
